Home / News / RE: URGENT NOTICE REGARDING SUSPICIOUS EMAILS

Dear Vendors, Government Agencies, and Partners:

The Virgin Islands Department of Property and Procurement (DPP) has been made aware of suspicious emails being circulated that appear to impersonate DPP personnel within the Procurement Division.

These communications may use email addresses associated with the @vi-gov.us domain and may contain the names, titles, or other identifying information of DPP Procurement Division personnel.

Please be advised that @vi-gov.us is not an official email domain used by the Government of the Virgin Islands.

Recipients should exercise caution with any communication from an @vi-gov.us email address claiming to represent DPP Procurement Division personnel.

Additionally, DPP Procurement Division personnel will never request that vendors, Government agencies, or individuals send funds, purchase gift cards, transfer money, provide banking information, or make payments through this type of unsolicited email communication.

If you receive a suspicious communication:

  1. Do not respond to the message.
  2. Do not send funds or make payments.
  3. Do not click unfamiliar links or open unexpected attachments.
  4. Do not provide banking information, passwords, login credentials, or other sensitive
    information.
  5. Carefully review the full sender email address, rather than relying on the displayed
    name.
  6. Preserve the suspicious email and, when possible, take a screenshot showing the
sender’s full email address and the contents of the message.
  7. Independently verify questionable communications through established Government
communication channels before taking any action.
  8. The unauthorized use of a DPP employee’s name, title, email signature, or other
identifying information does not mean that the communication originated from that
employee or from the Government of the Virgin Islands.

DPP is aware of these suspicious communications and encourages all vendors, Government agencies, and partners to remain vigilant. We appreciate your attention to this matter and your cooperation in helping protect against potential fraudulent activity.
